The best way to fix a leaky roof is to go into the attick of house. You need another person to be on the roof of the house. If your ceiling in the house is getting moister you can usually follow a trail of water back to the source. You can then use a flash light to shine at the ceiling of the attick. The person on the roof can look to see if they see any light showing through. Once you find the leak you may need to replace any wood that has mold or mildew. You also may need to lay new shingles.
